Oenochroma cerasiplaga - Geometridae
A reasonably common moth in the Esperance region that is often waylaid by house lights. The larvae are the well-known Loopers or Inchworms and a number of species from this family feed on Proteaceae (Banksia, Hakea, etc) of which there are considerable numbers locally, therefore not surprisingly, moths from Geometridae are well represented.
The body length of this moth is around 1.5 cm (over 1/2") and is invariably encountered around the New Year period (December/January). The simple makings and distinctive coloration makes this species easy to identify.
